Pursuant to the consultations with the Collegium of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal consisting of the President and two senior most Vice Presidents, the following Honble Members are hereby transferred in the same capacity to the respective Benches, in public interest with immediate effect from 4th March, 2020

A Writ Petition has been filed before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court by the All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (AIFTP) to challenge the constitutional validity of the Tribunal, Appellate Tribunal and other Authorities (Qualifications , Experience and other conditions of Service of Members) Rules, 2020

It was reported in December 2019 that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Department of Legal Affairs for appointment of three officers to the posts of Vice-President in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT). The posting orders of the said three Vice-Presidents is as follows

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Department of Legal Affairs for appointment of three officers to the posts of Vice-President in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) in Level 16 of the Pay Matrix w.e.f. the date of their assumption of charge of the post till their attaining the age of 62 years

It is for the first time in the history of the ITAT where a function was held in the presence of the Members of the ITAT, members of the Bar and the Departmental Representatives. Honourable Vice-President, Shri Pramod Kumar assumed the Charge in the presence of Honourable President Mr. Justice Pradeep P. Bhatt, Honourable Vice-President G. S. Pannu, honourable members on behalf of the ITAT Bar Association, Mr. Hiro Rai, President, Dr. K. Shivaram, Sr. advocate, past president, Mr. Subash S. Shetty, Past President and Senior departmental representatives were also invited on the occasion of Shri Pramod Kumar assuming charge as Vice-President

Pursuant to an order dated 20th August, 2019 passed by Justice P P Bhatt, the Hon’ble President of the ITAT, the transfers of two Hon’ble Vice Presidents have been ordered w.e.f. 2nd September, 2019

Pursuant to the consultations with the Collegium of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, consisting or the President and two senior most Vice Presidents, five Hon’ble Members have been transferred in the same capacity, in public interest, with effect from 6th September 2019

Pursuant to an order dated 9th August 2019 passed after consultations with the Collegium of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, consisting of the President and two senior most Vice Presidents, a Judicial Member of the ITAT has been transferred on account of administrative exigencies and in public interest, with effect from 23rd August, 2019.

Pursuant to an order dated 17th May 2019 issued by the President, four Accountant Members and two Judicial Members have been transferred in public interest with effect from 31st May 2019

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of several candidates to the posts of Judicial Member and Technical Member in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). Amongst the appointees are two serving Members of the ITAT. There are also several retired judges, Chartered Accountants and officials of the department in the list
