Vide order dated 23.03.2015 passed by the Hon’ble President pursuant to the consultations with the Collegium of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal consisting of the President and two senior most Vice Presidents, the following Members of the ITAT have been transferred in the same capacity to the respective Benches, mentioned below with immediate effect

We are pleased to report that Hon’ble Justice Dev Darshan Sud (Retd) has been appointed President of the ITAT

Vide order dated 23.02.2015 passed by the Hon’ble President pursuant to the consultations with the Collegium of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal consisting of the President and two senior most Vice Presidents, the following Members of the ITAT have been transferred in the same capacity to the respective Benches, mentioned below with effect from 23rd March 2015

Vide Order dated 02.02.2015 passed by the Hon’ble President of the ITAT, Hon’ble Shri. G. D. Agrawal, Vice President of the Delhi Bench has been transferred in the same capacity to the Ahmedabad Bench. He will also hold additional charge of the Lucknow and Bangalore Zones until further orders. Vide the same order, Hon’ble Shri. G. C. Gupta, Vice President of the Ahmedabad Bench has been transferred in the same capacity to the Delhi Bench with immediate effect

In response to the said order, the Council of the ICAI has issued a statement that the comments made by the ITAT on the profession and functions of the ICAI are not warranted. It is also stated that the “sweeping observations” made by ITAT about the Institute and the profession of Chartered Accountancy in a matter relating to a particular tax payer, are out of context

Vide order dated 28.08.2014 passed by the Hon’ble President pursuant to the consultations with the Collegium of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal consisting of the President and two senior most Vice Presidents, the following Members of the ITAT have been transferred/ permitted to continue in the same capacity to the respective Benches, mentioned below

Vide Order dated 18.07.2014 passed pursuant to consultations with the collegium of the ITAT constituting the President and two senior-most Vice Presidents available, Shri Abraham P. George, Accountant Member, has been transferred from ITAT, Kolkata Benches to ITAT, Bangalore Benches and Shri Joginder Singh, Judicial Member, has been transferred from ITAT, Indore Bench to ITAT, Mumbai Benches. Both transfers are in public interest and with immediate effect

The CBDT has issued Instruction No 5/2014 dated 10.07.2014 whereby, with a view to reducing litigation, the monetary limits for filing of appeals by the Department before Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, High Courts and Supreme Court, have been upwardly revised

The Assistant Registrar of the ITAT has issued a notice dated 25.06.2014 inviting objections, if any, from the assessees and the department with respect to the weeding out of old records
