Vide order dated 11.6.2012 passed in pursuance of the consultations of the collegiums of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, consisting of the President and two senior-most Vice Presidents, Shri Satbeer Singh Godara, Judicial Members, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Mumbai Benches, Mumbai is hereby transferred in public interest, in the same capacity to the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Chennai Benches, Chennai with effect from the forenoon of 18th June, 2012

Shri. G. E. Veerabhadrappa, the Hon’ble President of the Tribunal, has arranged a residential training programme on International Taxation and Transfer Pricing for the Hon’ble Members of the Tribunal at Mumbai from 11th to 20th August 2012

Vide Order passed in pursuance of the consultation of the collegium of the Income tax Appellate Tribunal consisting of the President and two senior-most Vice-Presidents, Shri R.S. Padvekar, Judicial Member, Mumbai has been transferred, in public interest, in the same capacity to the Pune Bench of the Income tax Appellate Tribunal with effect from the forenoon of 04.06.2012

Transfers of Hon’ble ITAT Members (May 2012)

A meeting to discuss several issues relating to the working of the Tribunal was held with Hon’ble Shri. G. E. Veerabhadrappa, President of the Tribunal, on 18th April 2012. At the meeting, the Hon’ble President readily agreed to several important suggestions made by the managing committee. The Minutes of the Meeting, duly approved by the Hon’ble President, are available for download.

Vide Order dated 9.3.2012, Shri. G. E. Veerabhadrappa, the Hon’ble President of the Tribunal, has withdrawn the reference to the 5 Member Special Bench of the Tribunal in the case of Tandon information Soluations Pvt. Ltd, ITA No. 6591/M/07 for the A.Y.2003-04

Vide Order dated 29.3.2012 passed in Pursuance of the consultations of the collegiums of the Income tax Appellate Tribunal consisting of the President  and two senior-most Vice-Presidents. The following Members of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal are hereby transferred, in public interest, in the same capacity to the Bench(es) of the  Income tax Appellate Tribunal as shown against their names.with effect from the forenoon of 9th April 2012

The ITAT Bar Association has addressed a representation dated 9.3.2012 to Shri. Shri Salman Khurshid, Hon’ble Minister for Law & Justice, expressing deep concern over the apparant lack of progress in the investigation into the charges of alleged corruption in the Tribunal. The Bar Association has suggested that as the matter is a judicial one, it ought to be referred to a Judge for inquiry. The Bar Association has explained how this is the best course of action in the circumstances and expressed the confidence that if speedily implemented, the glory of the Tribunal can be restored.

The President, I.T.A.T. had called for a meeting of the President and Members of the I.T.A.T. Bar Association and President and Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Departmental Representatives for a meeting to invite their suggestions for establishing E-Courts across the country
